The Citizen's Police Academy is a program designed to acquaint Citizens with the organization and interior working of the East Point Police Department. The program will foster and enhance Police - Community relations, raise Community awareness of Police operations and training, and promote harmony within the Community. The course of study is much the same as that of the regular police academy program. However, citizens graduating from the course will not be police officers. Students will attend classes once a week, and topics will range from crime prevention, drug enforcement, criminal investigations, the use of firearms, and a ride-along with police officers.
It is the goal of this program to foster a deeper understanding of law enforcement and an appreciation of the danger and complexities involved. Anyone interested in enrolling in the course must be 18 years of age, possess a clean criminal record, and submit an application to Sgt. K. Ralls, call (404) 559-6263 or email Sgt. K. Ralls.
