Training Division

The East Point Police Department's Training Division is responsible for ensuring that each certified officer, detention officer and civilian employee receive proper training in all areas of law enforcement.  Sgt. K.R. Ralls is the Departmental Training Coordinator and Firearms Range Master.  He oversees all training requirements.  The department currently has nineteen certified instructors including two state certified senior instructors.

Besides receiving extensive training within the department, officers go to regional academies throughout the state and even to other states to obtain training and certain certifications.

New police officers are sent to a regional academy for Basic Mandate Training.  This is a 440-hour course of classroom and realistic hands on training that each officer must complete in order to become a certified peace officer in the State of Georgia.  Once an officer completes the basic mandate training, they must then complete a 20-week field-training program before their basic training is complete.

For further information on all training programs, please call Sgt. K.R. Ralls at (404)765-1164 or e-mail him @ kralls@eastpointcity.org
