

Overview of Special Operations Division (SOD)
The East Point Police Department Special Operations Division is responsible for many aspects of law enforcement with specialized units such as:
VIPER – Visual, Investigative, Proactive Early Responders – A street level anti-drug unit
K-9 Unit – The K-9 unit currently has two drug dogs which are used within the city and also in joint operations with other Federal, State, and Local agencies in the surrounding areas.
Gang Task Force – A street level anti-gang and graffiti unit.
Crime Suppression Unit – Special Operations investigators are routinely called on by the chief to investigate increases in crimes in particular areas.

The Special Operations Division has agents assigned to:
United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA HIDTA).
United States Custom Service.
Fulton County Burglary Task Force
Special Operations administers six Drug Free Zones in the City of East Point . Offenders arrested for drug related offenses are issued an Exclusion Notice barring them from these areas. Offenders caught violating a Drug Free Zone exclusion notice are arrested for Criminal Trespass.
