The East Point Police Department has approximately 75 officers assigned to the Field Operations Division.  The city is divided into 6 patrol zones or "beats."  There is one patrol unit for each beat.  Three backup units assist the beat cars and provide backup on calls of a serious nature.  A shift consist of a Captain, two Lieutenants, three Sergeants, three Training Officers and approximately fourteen Officers.

The Field Operations Division answers approximately 235 calls for service a day.

All Field Operations police cars are equipped with in-car laptop computers. The equipment and software give officers the ability to write reports in the field and send them wirelessly to a supervisor for approval.  The approved reports are immediately available to the department staff and the public.
